An on-chain voting tool for creating and facilitating immutable, tamperproof community decisions using the Algorand blockchain.
The On-chain Voting Tool is an open-source solution developed by the Algorand Foundation to enable transparent and secure community decision-making. It provides a general-purpose capability for creating and managing voting rounds with results immutably recorded on the Algorand blockchain.
Immutable On-Chain Voting — Facilitates voting rounds where votes and results are recorded on the Algorand blockchain, ensuring tamperproof and transparent outcomes. Voting Round Creation — Allows authorized creators to specify voting details, upload metadata to IPFS, and deploy smart contracts to initiate a voting process. Decentralized Application (dApp) — Provides a user-friendly web interface for voters to view active rounds, select options, and cast their votes using an Algorand wallet. Smart Contract Backend — Uses a custom Algorand smart contract to manage the voting logic, voter eligibility, and vote tallying on-chain. Infrastructure as Code — Includes AWS CDK deployment scripts for automated, multi-environment provisioning of the full application stack. Write-Through Cache IPFS Gateway — A dedicated service for uploading and retrieving voting metadata and snapshots from IPFS, integrated with the blockchain.
The tool is designed to leverage the Algorand blockchain's properties of finality and security to create a trustworthy, decentralized voting system that supports community governance and transparent decision-making.
